IT ALL BEGINS WITH A

STORY

It Started With Passion

Josh Jordan, CCO and co-founder of Brazilian Gold Coffee, has been an avid traveler to Brazil for over a decade. In 2008, he had the opportunity to make his first trip to São Paulo to work with a church located in the favelas. He participated in their ongoing outreach into the community, where they provide meals, educate, and care for impoverished families and their children living in the slums. It didn’t take long to discover how welcoming and hospitable his new friends were. Great times were had, always with good food and hot coffee shared, even on a blazing hot day!

On that trip, Josh spent three days in Santos, where he experienced an extraordinary Brazilian espresso. He was amazed at how fabulous a cup of coffee could taste! Not being able to find coffee in the US that could compare to the incredible coffee he’d discovered in Brazil, Josh made sure on all his trips that there was always extra room in his suitcase to bring back bags of Brazilian coffee to enjoy and share. It just disappeared too fast!

Recognizing Josh’s passion for Brazilian coffee, his entrepreneurial stepdad suggested that he consider looking into starting a coffee business. Finding that idea intriguing, Josh began searching for high quality Brazilian beans. He then set out to discover the best approach to roasting these specialty beans to produce the wonderful flavors of coffee he had experienced in Brazil. This quest was the birthing of Brazilian Gold Coffee.

In 2019, while spending time in Sao Paulo, Josh met Felipe Pães, a highly accomplished and knowledgeable barista. Felipe invited Josh to travel with him to Curitiba, where he introduced him to some of Brazil’s top baristas, coffee roasters, and two-time Brazilian Latte Art Champion, Daniel Acosta.  Josh visited Daniel’s roaster (Royalty Coffee) and sampled their coffee. He was astounded by the incredible flavor.

In 2020 Daniel took Josh on a road trip to meet some of Brazil’s finest coffee growers and producers. On that trip, Josh experienced the stunning beauty of the picturesque coffee farms nestled in the rolling hills of high altitude regions and learned firsthand what it took to grow specialty grade coffee. He was amazed at the fermentation process many of these farmers use and was blown away by coffee flavors he had never experienced. Josh was graciously welcomed into their world of coffee with genuine, warm hospitality, being treated to royal tours of the coffee farms. Each grower proudly shared the stories of their family-owned coffee farms, passed down through the generations, along with their time-tested work and experimentation. It was inspiring to hear their passion as they explained how they continue to develop and care for the unique flavors of their own specialty beans. Josh experienced an amazing bonding with these outstanding farmers, and hopes to soon be importing their incredible, award-winning coffees.

Loving Coffee, Loving People

In our journey to find and sell specialty grade quality coffee, we discovered an intriguing fact. People who care most about the quality of coffee, in the end, care most about the lives of those who make great coffee possible.

The diversity of the colorful Brazilian culture is reflected in the diversity of Brazil’s specialty coffees.

Specialty grade coffee requires extra care for both the land and the plants. The people who attentively look over every detail of the process are highly skilled in what they do. These farms are often family owned. Family traditions of caring for the plants are passed down and perfected through the generations. Each generation adds new innovations to the process, which often produces tastier, healthier, and more complex specialty coffee beans.

In Brazilian culture, coffee is one of the main ways that friends and families pause to enjoy the moment with each other.

We invite you into that pause…

Treat yourself to some great coffee and enjoy the moment, whether you’re sharing it with someone or being inspired by what’s brewing in your own heart!
